Katie Mitten, LMSW, Assistant Director at the Meadows Institute, will discuss the mental health challenges faced by youth with developmental disabilities (DD) and provide strategies for effective crisis support and care. She will cover the mental health needs of youth with DD, current crisis response realities, and best practices for improving wellbeing.
Katie Mitten has over ten years of experience managing projects that promote the health and safety of Texas children and families. As Assistant Director of Cross Systems Integration at the Meadows Institute, she coordinates efforts to improve systems supporting youth and families. Before joining the Institute in 2023, Katie worked with the Safe Kid Austin Coalition, Texans Care for Children, and Austin Child Guidance Center. She holds a Master’s in Social Work with a concentration in Community and Administrative Leadership from The University of Texas at Austin.
